Hormones

The female cycle is controlled by hormonal control circuits. It begins with puberty and ends with menopause. However, hormones also play an important role in childhood and after menopause. Hormones are also of great importance for men.

As a practice with an endocrinological focus, we would like to advise and support you in these phases of life. We have many years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of hormonal complaints and hormone-dependent diseases. We run our own hormone laboratory, which delivers important results in a very short time.

Individual contraception consultation:

A far-sighted decision

Choosing the right contraception method is a personal and important decision that should be tailored to individual needs and circumstances. A contraception consultation with us offers the opportunity to get to know the various options and make an informed decision.

At the beginning of the consultation, the health history, lifestyle and family planning are discussed. Topics such as age, partnership, future desire to have children and possible health restrictions play a central role. There are numerous contraception methods, including hormonal options such as the pill or IUD, as well as non-invasive alternatives such as natural family planning.

In addition to the effectiveness of each method, side effects, handling and personal preferences are also taken into account. It is particularly important to pay attention to health risks. The consultation also includes information about the application and protection against sexually transmitted diseases.

An individual, endocrinologically based contraception consultation provides the space to clarify questions and eliminate uncertainties. It helps to find a method that is not only safe, but also fits your own life situation. Because contraception is more than protection – it means freedom and self-determination. A personal conversation and examination are the key to the best decision.

Hormone replacement therapy during menopause:

An individual decision

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) treats menopausal symptoms and is intended to prevent adverse changes in health in old age. Before starting HRT, comprehensive medical advice and examination are very important. First, there is a detailed discussion in which the individual complaints, medical history and family risks are recorded. Physical examinations are then carried out, which often include a gynecological examination and the determination of relevant blood values. These steps are necessary to assess the general state of health and rule out possible contraindications for HRT.

The decision for HRT should always be based on a careful consideration of benefits and risks. Factors such as the patient’s age, severity of symptoms and individual risk factors are taken into account. The aim is to find the right dose to alleviate symptoms and minimize potential risks. Regular follow-up checks during therapy are essential to check the effectiveness and make adjustments if necessary. These checks should be carried out at least once a year and include, in addition to the assessment of the therapy effect, laboratory value checks and, if necessary, a gynecological examination.

An individual consultation and careful examination before starting HRT ensure that the therapy is optimally tailored to the patient’s needs and offers the highest level of safety.

Cycle disorders:

Individualized diagnostics and therapy

Cycle disorders can have a variety of causes and require careful hormonal diagnostics as well as individual advice and physical examination, especially an ultrasound. As part of the diagnostics, specific hormones are measured in the blood to identify possible imbalances.

The consultation includes a detailed anamnesis, in which factors such as stress, lifestyle and medication intake are also discussed, as these can influence the hormone balance.

Based on the diagnostic results, an individual treatment plan is created. This can include hormonal therapies, such as the administration of estrogen-progestin preparations, or measures to change lifestyle. Regular checks are important to monitor the success of the therapy and make adjustments.

Early and comprehensive hormonal diagnostics and advice are crucial to effectively treat cycle disorders, improve the patient’s well-being and also to prevent later problems, e.g. getting pregnant.

Transsexuality:

Individualized diagnostics and therapy

The diagnosis and therapy for transsexuality, also known as gender dysphoria, requires an interdisciplinary and empathetic approach. First of all, a comprehensive diagnosis is the priority, which includes a detailed anamnesis, psychological evaluation and medical examinations. The aim is to understand the person’s gender identity and rule out possible accompanying diseases.

The therapy is based on the individual needs and wishes of the person concerned. It includes psychotherapeutic support, hormone treatments and gender-affirming surgical measures. Hormone therapies aim to adapt the physical characteristics to the perceived gender.

Continuous support from an experienced, interdisciplinary team that takes medical, psychological and social aspects into account is important. Regular follow-up examinations ensure the success of the therapy and the well-being of the person concerned. Compliance with current guidelines and standards ensures high-quality care.

In Germany, trans-identified people are entitled to treatment of medical and psychological factors within the framework of statutory health insurance (GKV).

A respectful and individual approach is essential to meet the needs of people with gender dysphoria and significantly improve their quality of life.
